Hello, I hope you are well. It's been over 21 days since my refund was accepted, and I haven't received everything. The IRS tracking isn't working. What can I do?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund.  Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.

Your federal refund amount is on line 35a of your Form 1040

The 21 days is just a target set by the IRS, it is not a promise or a guarantee you will receive the tax refund within 21 days after the tax return has been accepted by the IRS.

When using the IRS website for the status of a federal tax refund you must enter exactly the Social Security number, the Filing Status and the whole dollar amount of the federal tax refund as reported on your Form 1040 Line 35ahttps://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

Thank you for the response!  I will try again tomorrow because my refund was accepted, and I wanted to check the status on the IRS website. However, it showed that I have exceeded the number of maximum attempts.
