If you claimed an Earned Income Tax Credit and/or an Additional Child Tax Credit and filed before February 15, 2019, you’ll get your refund the week of February 27 at the earliest. The IRS states they will begin issuing tax refunds on returns with the EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit on February 27, 2019.

According to the IRS on taxpayers claiming Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credithttps://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043en.pdf

Claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit
If a taxpayer is claiming the EITC or the ACTC, they can file
their return any time after the filing season begins. However,
by law, the IRS cannot issue refunds before mid-February for
tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or
the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). Keep in mind that only
a small percentage of total filers will fall into this situation.
While the IRS will process taxpayer returns when they are
received, it cannot issue related refunds before mid-February.
The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be
available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards starting
on Feb 27, 2019, if they chose direct deposit and there are no
other issues with their tax return.

I'm still waiting 😞 I filed on 1/28. Anyone else still waiting?

Yes. I am waiting too. First time that this has happened in twenty years. I filed on 1/28/19 and got a 4464c letter 3/1/19 and on 7/16/19 “still being processed” expected amount is between 8k & 9k. Maybe it’s a glitch or a new trump tax program for the middle class. Similar to the bankruptcy 7 program he used on new middle class construction vendors after hotels was built in different states.

It's now August 13th, and I've yet to receive my refund. Return accepted March 9th. Got CP05 letter stating that I would have refund by end of May. Nothing since then. Website just says "processing", have called also and am told "still processing". An update on time frame would be helpful. Has anyone gotten theirs yet?

So my sister in law and her husband used Turbo Tax and they just got their tax return last week. They have 2 children and get the EIC this happened for them last year as well. So how is it that they say they cant release till mid February and yet they got theirs already?

Even though the IRS issues 9 out of 10 tax refunds within 21 days, it's possible your return may require additional review and take longer to process.

For some taxpayers, PATH Act requirements and other identity-protection safeguards implemented by the IRS may account for longer wait times.

The IRS usually begins issuing tax refunds on returns with the EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit in late February. They may have started processing some of these returns now yes, but the information we receive from the IRS is late February.

Other things that can delay your refund include, but are not limited to:

  • Liens, back taxes, or refund offsets
  • Errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Identity fraud
  • Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which can take 11-14 weeks to process

Also, if you chose direct deposit, your financial institution may need another day or two to post the refund to your account, so keep that in mind.

THERE IS NO REASON IN THE WORLD THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH AND A HALF TO GET OUR REFUNDS, JUST BECAUSE WE CLAIMED THE EARNED INCOME CREDIT. THEY RECIEVED MY RETURN ON THE 27TH OF JANUARY, I HAD TO WAIT TILL THE FIFTEENTH OF FEBUARY FOR THEM TO START HANDING OUT REFUNDS, ALL THOSE RETURNS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROCESSED AS THEY WERE RECIEVED JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE AND THEN PUT IN THE HOLD PILE. ON THE FIFTEENTH ALL THOSE RETURNS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT OUT AND REFUNDS SENT. THERE IS NO REASON IN HELL WHY WE SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER THREE WEEKS TO RECIEVE OUR REFUNDS, WE ARE BEING DISCRIMINATED AND PUNISHED FOR CLAIMING OUR CHILDREN. THE IRS AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES, I BET THEIR FAMILIES ARE NOT WAITING FOR THEIR MONEY. THEY NEED TO TREAT OUR REFUNDS LIKE EVERYONE ELSES, AS THEY ARE RECIEVED HOLD THEM TILL THE FIFTEENTH BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO BE VERIFIED BUT RELEASE THEM BY THE SIXTEENTH, ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

Turbo tax promises but usually doesn't deliver their product as stated in their ad. I was not able to apply for the standard free basic addition. The app only accepted the "deluxe" fee.

IRS website for PATH act delaying federal tax refund that include EIC and/or ACTC - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/refund-timing

If you have not received your tax refund, then contact the IRS -

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
