Grr, E-file of an amended return for 2020 not possible after October 20, 2020

My employer had to submit a revised 2020 W2-C and ADP took it's sweet time - now I can't e-file due to Intuit blocking e-filing of amended returns for Tax Year 2020 after October 20, 2021. Just venting here as it is annoying - I gather this is not an IRS rule, just an Intuit thing.

The IRS has closed e-filing too.    Sorry---you are too late to e-file a 2020 return.   When the IRS re-opens e-filing it will be for 2021 returns sometime in late January/early February.   Your 2020 return will have to be printed, signed in ink and mailed now.  Use a mailing service that will track it so you will know it was received since it will take the IRS about six months or more to process your amended return.

First all personal returns are blocked from efiling as the IRS switches to the 2021 program ... blackout period happens from about thanksgiving until mid January so NO ONE can efile anything during  this time not even professional programs.

Next ... if you wait and pay a professional to file the amended return you can do it sometime mid January next year however you will never be able to do it thru the TT system.

And no matter which way you file it will still take the IRS months to process it due to the backlog so don't expect anything quickly.  And when you efile the 2021 return make sure you use the AGI off the original return not the amended one.
