Apologies if this has been answered already.
I filed and completed my 2023 taxes back in March. Married filed jointly.
However, after we filed, we decided to contribute (non-deductible) to our Traditional IRA accounts for the 2023 year, prior to April 15 cut-off. Do I need to amend my 2023 taxes? Am I able to simply fill out the 8606 Form and send to the IRS?
Please help. Thank you!

Yes, you can fill out a 2023 Form 8606 to record your nondeductible basis, and mail this form to your designated IRS office. Be sure to include your address on page 1 of the form and your signature and the date on page 2 of the form.
If you plan to make a conversion in 2024 then please see How do I enter a backdoor Roth IRA conversion? for your 2024 return.
Thank you! So to be clear, there's no need to amend my 2023 taxes?
Yes, that is correct.
Just FYI I got a notice in the mail that we actually need to submit 1040-X, the amended tax return, in order to adjust our account.
Don't be surprised if IRS sends a Form 8606 back to you.
Oops, already happened !
The proper way to file Form 8606 is attached to Form 1040-X.
Form 8606 can be mailed by itself only when you are otherwise not required to file a tax return.
Do you have the correct taxable amount on Form 1040 Line 4b and did not take a deduction? (Schedule 1 Line 20)?
If that is all true then only Form 8606 has to be attached.
After you e-File,
get Form 1040-X from IRS website and mail it in with your 8606, which you can also get in fillable PDF.
Note: when you are not changing any dollar amounts on your amending 1040-X, you can leave all the lines 1-23 EMPTY.
Part III explanation: "didn't include Form 8606 with e-File".
You will have to mail it so this does not use up your one 1040-X e-File.
Done this way, you sign 1040-X, not 8606.
