To clarify, the 2021 Tax Year return (the one we are working on now) only reports what you received for the Third Payment.
If you did not get that payment, enter zero for amount received.
If eligible, you will get that "missing" payment as a credit.
The First and Second payments can only be claimed on the 2020 tax return.
You will need to wait until your 2020 tax return is processed to get that credit if eligible.
Your "then" husband? Did you get divorced? How are you filing 2021? It goes by your status on Dec 31.
Which Stimulus payment didn't you get? Just the 3rd one for 1400 each person? Did you get the first 2 rounds?
Did you efile 2020? When? Was it Accepted? Maybe you didn't finish filing it or it Rejected. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?
Then when you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepte.d or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails if you have them.
We were divorced 7/2021. We filed jointly for 2020. We never received the stimulus check -so it was included in the return -
We mailed it in since I needed to sign and was no longer in the state. I sent it with tracking so the IRS has it but has not processed it yet. Keeps saying they don't have it. So no refund and no stimulus check from federal for 2020 at this time.
The IRS is still processing returns for 2020. If you paper filed your 2020, it most likely is still sitting at the IRS to be processed. The IRS is several million returns behind in processing.
