"Filed federal return", are these returns filed or not?

Hi folks,

The review tax page on Turbotax looks very confusing to me. When i first tried to e-file, i got an error saying my SSN was shown on another tax return, so the tax returns didn't transmit. Then I decided to print them out and after that, I wasn't able to go back and make any edits with my tax return at all. And now the page show "filed Federal tax return". This is very confusing, can someone let me know what's going on? If these are not filed, can someone from Turbotax change the language and make it less confusing?

It probably thinks you printed it out to mail it.  If it doesn't say Accepted then It hasn't been filed yet.

If you haven't efiled or mailed your return or it rejected you can go back in to finish and change anything you want.  Do not click on Amend!

Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.

From Tax Home (the first screen you see after you sign in), scroll down to Your tax returns & documents. You may have to select Show to open the drop down.

Select 2021, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this is just the workaround).

Then when you are ready to file you can try to switch to efile.

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

Thank you so much! I clicked Amend when I was trying to go back to change my tax return, is there still any way for me to go back and change stuff?

Why Turbotax is making it so confusing and not very intuitive for making changes? lol
