Why does the Form 8889 have the watermark if it had been released by TurboTax for use. It should not have any watermarks if it is ready. I am afraid the return will be rejected. Will TurboTax update the Form before it electronically files, have they already electronically filed?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Yeah, I assume everything will be alright and we shouldnt have too much to worry about. It seems like it was a glitch in the programming side of things, hence why the reps and supervisors I talked to have no idea what to do or how to resolve the issue. I am going to try and call back tomorrow to see if things are getting closer to a solution. I'm hoping if it doesnt get fixed they will just get rejected and we can resubmit with correct forms that are not watermarked. As someone who passed my CPA exams and works in Public Accounting, this is painful. I would never ever submit forms electronically if they were not ready to file.
Form 8889 is estimated to be available on 02/04/2021 (subject to change)
Go to this website for IRS forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html
You could not have e-filed the 2020 tax return if the Form 8889 was to be included in your 2020 tax return since it is not yet available for filing.
DID YOU DO THIS?
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
IF NOT, THE TAX RETURN WAS NOT FILED.
On the link both of the Form 8889's are available, and were yesterday. That was why I was able to file, because they were released and available.
Yes I did follow all the Steps in the File Section and my homescreen states "It looks like you've already completed your 2020 tax return. The IRS announced that the tax filing season will open on February 12, 2021. If you e‑filed, your tax return status will be updated after the IRS begins accepting returns. For important federal dates and deadlines, click here."
I also received an email "

Hi, same issue here. I completed my tax returns last weekend, and TurboTax would not permit me to file because I needed to file Forms 8960 and 8889. TurboTax told me forms would be available 1/28/2021. Logged back on 1/28/2021 and was able to submit returns, no problem. Forms transmitted, pay money to TurboTax. Log back on 1/29/2021 and see in PDF that on Forms 1040 ES , 8960 and 8889 that "DO NOT FILE" message all over forms. I contacted TurboTax on 1/29/2021 and 1/30/2021 and they have no answer. Saw the same response you did just now that said forms would not be available until 2/04/2021 Completely contradicts reality. TurboTax permitted me and looks like permitted you to transmit returns. I was told there is nothing we can do about it but 0% confidence in that answer. Neither rep had any clue whatsoever what was going on.
