You can check your filing status in TurboTax by following these instructions: TurboTax Tools: Where's my Refund?
If there is nothing showing for your status, then you did not file your return yet. If that is the case, you can file through TurboTax or someone else.
No. If the IRS accepted an e-file from you, any other attempt to e-file with your SSN will be rejected. If you think the other tax software made a mistake then after the return has been fully processed you can amend the return.
If your return has been transmitted by a tax professional and accepted by the IRS, you cannot file again. You have to wait till the processing is finished ( See WMR at IRS.gov ). Thereafter and if ,and only if , there is appreciable tax liability/refund difference then you will need to file an amended return.
NB-- Personally , my red flags go up when a tax preparer tells me that he/she can get me a higher refund, esp. without showing me what was wrong in the original filing. You can check out any and all Tax Professionals at IRS.Gov
You can also check the credentials of registered/approved tax preparer for your state at local dept. of Revenue or similar
Ok thanks. Because I filled on February 22nd & I be checking where is my refund for any updates. It’s saying the information im putting is incorrect. So I’m assuming they haven’t received it yet? That’s why i was asking if they haven’t received could I file with the other tax professional? I jus don’t want to get in trouble
@king06 , perhaps you should contact your Tax Preparer as to how and when the return prepared by him/her was transmitted ( the professional software he/she uses would have provided the transmission using his Electronic File Originator / ERO ID --EFIN ). If you used any of the Tax assistance programs then they often collect a whole bunch a transmit once a week -- at least that was true when I volunteered for the VITA/TCE program.
Is there more one of us can do for you ?
