I have to file an amendment to my 2022 Colorado state tax return. I typed my explanation of the amendment into the step-by-step interview. But when I save the file as a PDF to print and send to the Colorado tax department, the explanation is nowhere to be found. Am I doing something wrong, or is it hidden somewhere? Where should the explanation show up?

There should be an additional page with additional information that prints at the end of Form DR 0104X.
If it does not pull in from your input in the state interview screens, you can also manually type in the explanation on the form itself. To do this, select Forms on the top right of the program. Then, select Open Form in the left column and type in Form 104X. This will allow you to select the amended Colorado return.
Once the form is open, scroll down to the bottom of Form 104X until you see the section titled Explanation of Changes. You will be able to type in your explanation here. This will then print out at the end of your Colorado amended return.
Are you looking for the explanation on line 6 of DR0104X? That's where it should show up.
If you are still having issues with it, please contact the customer support where someone can walk you through the steps and see your screen.
Thank you for your reply.
I'm referring to DR 0104X the very top of the form where it says "Reason for amended return (mark one)" (not line 6). I've checked the box "Other, include explanation."
The step-by-step interview has a space where I wrote in my explanation, but my explanation doesn't show up on the 104X form when I preview or print it.

That worked! I was able to open the form and manually re-type my explanation into the bottom on 104X, as shown in your image. I suppose it may be a glitch in the TurboTax program that the explanation in the interview doesn't show up on the actual tax form.
Do you happen to know what forms I have to send into Colorado - obviously my amended 104, but do they also want me to include my original Colorado return? A federal 1040Xwas generated by TT, although there were no changes (my error only affected on my state return) - am I supposed to send the 1040X to Colorado too? What about my original federal 1040? (TurboTax instructions weren't clear to me.)
Thank you.
You will need to submit all schedules and supporting documentation for the changes on your amended return, even if those schedules do not have any changes in values. Please see the excerpt below from the Colorado 104 book instructions.
If your state amendment is a result of an IRS notice, you will need to attach the amended federal return as part of the supporting documentation for your Colorado amended return. You would also need to include a copy of the federal revenue's agent report per the instructions for Form DR 0104X.
