@Blessedami = every single post on an adjusted tax return from the IRS is about one of two things:
the Advance Child Tax credit - line 28 of your tax return
the Recovery Rebate Credit - line 30 of your tax return
if you answer these questions, we can probably figure out why the IRS adjusted the return without calling them
1) what is the EXACT adjustment the IRS made in your refund
2) what is on Line 30 of Form 1040
3) what is on Line 28 of Form 1040
post back and I will guide you from there
Just finally getting on here to respond. after carefully reading the Recovery rebate doc, I, miss read the question after the credit amount received. Should & finally did see ' I was NOT ' eligible for any credit. thus the IRS calc was correct. Just irritating situation I wish TT had handled the missing recovery credit doc prior to submitting the filing.I could have juggled monies into an IRA & had a return vs owing. Thanks to all that responded.
@AL2880 - sorry for your frustration....can you go back and look at the Federal Review Section and how TT handled it? there are all kinds of warning and links about getting this correct otherwise 'bad things' happen. I wonder what else TT could have done....
I suspect you weren't eligible for the Credit thus the tax owed. I payed up to avoid any further interest charges. just 1 of those years. I really wish the FED gov'ment stayed out of our lives sometimes! it just has gotten too dang big & cumbersome to pay ' my fair share' sheesh!!!
