Electronic filing of amended federal return

I prepared an amended return Form 1040-X after receiving a late supplemental Tax Report. I am using the desktop version of TurboTax. I was informed that it is not possible to file the amended return electronically with this version so the entire return with all all forms must be mailed to IRS. However, TurboTax is prompting me to file the return electronically. Is that an error or glitch?

You can efile amended returns.

Sorry. I attempted to efile the amended return multiple times and received same error message that this return has already been efiled

Is it possible that you efiled the return while you were trying to figure out whether you could efile the return?

If you efiled the amended return you should have received emails confirming that you submitted it.

Thanks. I did speak with support who logged onto my screen and encountered same problem. He determined that I must submit by mail.
