Here's how to open your unfiled return back up if TurboTax thinks you were finished, but you have not actually efiled or mailed a return.

  • Log in and go to the 2016 Tax Timeline.
  • If there is no longer a "Take me to my return" button, then scroll to "Some things you can do."
  • Choose "Add a State".  (You don't really add one; that's just to open the return back up.)
  • Once your return is reopened, you can continue working on it.

Here's how to get to the section to enter your 1098-T info:

  • After opening your return by the method above, click in the top right corner on SEARCH.
  • Enter 1098-T without quotes.
  • Choose Jump to 1098-T.
  • Next screen:  "Do you want to enter your higher education expenses?"    Yes or no.
  • Continue with that interview.

Did you file already?

I never press the complete bottom and it just finished my application

It was not supposed because I pressed the "back" bottom, the other answer I found was to amend.

Do NOT click on "Amend".   That can mess things up.    If you never went all the way to the end and clicked on the last screen that has  "Transmit my returns now" button, then you haven't efiled.

Were you planning to mail the return or efile?  If you have not efiled, and if you have not mailed the return, we can tell you how to open it back up to continue working on it.

It did not give me the option for efile, it just says that is ready to print. I am trying to fill out the 1098T form but I never found it.

In that case, you haven't filed anything.  You can reprint it after you make changes.

So when you go to the 2016 Tax Timeline does TurboTax "think" you were finished, so there's no longer a "Take me to my return" button?  And you need to know how to open it back up?  And how to get to the area to input your 1098-T?   If so, see the info I left you below in an answer addressing those issues.
