Did I pay taxes on my 2016 State tax refund?

I'm being asked if I pd taxes on my state refund.  I don't know.  I itemized.  It tells me to go to Schedule A, line 5 a or b.  I have a copy of last years taxes, but there is no schedule A and nothing with a line 5 a or b.  What do I do.  I used turbo tax last year.  Please help!

If there is not a Schedule A then chances are you did not itemize and you took the standard deduction. If you have a form 1040, you can look at line 40 where it says Itemized deductions or Standard Deduction.  If the number matches what is in the box on the side of the form under Standard Deduction then you did not itemize, you took the standard deduction.  If this is the case then you do not need to worry about your state refund from last year. 

If you do not have a 1040 then you did not itemize either.
