Dependent status change

How do I change my status from Single/dependent    to    Single/ non-dependent on my federal return?

The TurboTax questions ask if someone can claim me; then asks if someone in fact will.

Am I considered a dependent if someone can claim me but won't?

When I change my status to "no one will claim me"  on my 1040X amendment, TurboTax doesn't detect any changes in the return.

Dependent status change

If your income is $12K or less you will not see any change on the return.

And you are a dependent if you CAN be claimed even if you will not be claimed.
