I filed my Federal return with TurboTax in February, it showed a refund of $1919. However when I opened TurboTax this morning and the updates ran, it shows a refund of $3866. I haven't gotten my refund yet, what can I do to verify the new amount is correct? And if it is, how can I file to get the revised amount?
Also, when I filed in February I owed and paid $162 to CA, TurboTax now shows that I owe $243. Will CA notify me? How should I proceed?

Did you enter any unemployment? There have been major IRS changes for that. If it is unemployment the IRS will automatically adjust your return. So you do not need to amend. The state returns might not be ready yet.
If you have unemployment you can exclude up to 10,200.
The exclusion will be on Schedule 1 Line 8 as a negative number. Your unemployment compensation will be on Line 7 of Schedule 1. The result flows to Form 1040 Line 8.
Thank you! Yes, I did enter Unemployment income though Sch 1 Line 8 is blank on my filed return. At least now I know why it's been in a holding pattern. Thank you again!
I finally received my tax refund, in the original amount. Am I still entitled to the additional amount? If so, how can I file for it?
Thank you!
You don't. The IRS announced that it will begin processing returns for unemployment after tax season and will begin with singles. The IRS will adjust your return and send you the additional refund.
This is an older article and the timeline is being pushed back. See IRS to recalculate taxes on unemployment benefits; refunds to start in May
Thank you!
