If you have already filed your tax return, you won't be able to make any changes until your return has been accepted or rejected by the IRS. If rejected, you would need to correct any information that caused your return to be rejected as well as make any other changes to your return that you see fit, then proceed to resubmit your return. If accepted, you would need to amend your return. You can follow the instructions in this FAQ here to amend your 2020 tax return.

If you have not yet filed your tax return, you can follow the steps below to get back into your tax return and make changes.

  1. In TurboTax Online, sign into your account.
  2. Select Tax Home in the left menu.
  3. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
  4. Select 2020, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right area).
  5. You should now be able to make any adjustments needed.
  6. Once you are done making adjustments, you will need to e-file (Select Transmit Returns now) or print and mail your tax return.
