In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.
So I just have to wait until September for a paper check? Also the IRS says in the coming weeks a web portal will be developed. You are the web portal. That’s what this is supposed to be. Thanks again for your continued support
I have the SAME QUESTION. What about people who have filed but don't have direct deposit information with IRS?
Is Turbo tax the web portal that the IRS is referencing for the portal they are going to create for people to update their direct deposit information? Or is IRS creating something different than what Turbo tax has available? Because turbotax web portal won't work for people who have already filed but need to update their direct deposit information??? In my particular case i filed, but since i wasn't expecting a refund, i did not provide my banking information. Somehow i would like to provide my direct deposit information to IRS. I HOPE LIKE HEL* that if IRS contracted with TUrbo tax to create the portal that they make it possible for people who have already filed to update their direct deposit information??????
ADMINISTRATOR PLEASE RESPOND??!@

The TurboTax website to Register for the stimulus payment is Not the US Treasury website as referenced by the IRS news release website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know

my guess is that once The IRS creates the web portal, that it will not work if you already filed without direct deposit, that it will only allow you to submit direct deposit information if you HAVEN'T yet filed.
I hope someone gets on top of it, such that people who ALREADY have filed can also update their direct deposit information.

what makes you "think" it is not turbo tax who IRS will work with in creating the portal. I actually found a link that said the IRS together with turbotax is creating the portal.
TurboTax website for stimulus Registration (Read what the requirements are to register using this portal) - https://turbotax.intuit.com/stimulus-check/
If you’re not required to file taxes and don’t
receive Social Security benefits, use our free
Stimulus Registration for non-tax filers to
give the IRS your up-to-date mailing address
and direct deposit banking info.
I don't follow your thinking?
1. Turbotax portal will not work for those who have already filed but just wish to update their direct deposit information.
2. The link I shared above states IRS is working together with turbotax to create the portal.
My question is what makes you think that turbo tax is not the IRS portal when the link i provided states the IRS is working with turbotax. I just hope that whoever is creating the portal for the IRS (which i believe is turbotax by the link i sent above), that they WILL ALLOW individuals to update their direct deposit information, regardless if they have filed or not.
Turbo tax doesn’t know what’s going on and the federal govt is just using this as an excuse to pass the buck. You guys realize anything that doesn’t work will be blamed on TurboTax by the feds to make themselves look innocent. September is when some are supposed receive this big “relief” money. I can use that buy plenty of newspaper filling when I’m sleeping on the street. Thank you turbo tax
I even contacted TURBOTAX SUPPORT who said i could file an ammended return to update your direct deposit information. From what my accountant said is that you can't file an amendend return just to update your direct deposit. Turbotax doesn't provide online ammended returns either...those are requried to be done manually...so my gut is telling me that there is NO WAY to update your direct deposit infromation, if you have already filed. I am hoping I am wrong, but right now i don't believe so.

TurboTax can be used to amend a 2019 tax return. However, there is nowhere on the amended tax return, Form 1040X, that you can enter any bank information for either a direct deposit or for a direct debit.
An amended tax return, Form 1040X, can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed. The IRS will take up to 4 months to process the amended tax return.
Refunds from an amended tax return are Only sent by the IRS as a check in the mail. Taxes owed on an amended tax return can be paid by check included with the amended return.
However, tax payments can always be made using the IRS payment website - https://www.irs.gov/payments

The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?

ME>>> you keep posting that excerpt, but as i continue to say, i believe that excerpt was written for those that didn't need to file or have not already filed. I don't think you will be able to update your direct deposit information if they already have your 2019 return...
You can already update your direct deposit now using turbo tax if you haven't already filed.
I hope I am wrong, but that is what i believe.
So, I wonder how long before the treasury web portal to update your bank info will take. It has said in the coming weeks for at least almost two weeks. I am sure there are a lot of people that already filed and did not give them direct deposit info. Also, what if they changed banks since they filed?
The IRS is in the process of creating a site. The link below is all we have to share.
If you only want to change your Direct Deposit Information
The Treasury is expected to shortly announce an online portal where direct deposit information can be supplied to the IRS. Here is what you should do:
Go to http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know to see if they have set up the online portal. (This article will be updated with the web address once it’s available.)
It was announced they suspect to have the IRS web portal up late april or early may...i check every day...
Again, i don't think the portal will allow you to update your direct deposit info if you already filed...i think you will just have to wait for a paper check....if you changed your direct deposit since you filed, it will likely take you many more weeks before you will see it before it can get straightened out....
just my guess..hope i am wrong on both accounts.
