Use the same account and user ID that you used when you began to prepare the return. You might need to click on "Add a State" to get back in to the return. You do not really have to add a state, but that trick will let you back in so that you can finish preparing the return and go through the steps of the FILE section in order to e-file. You can still e-file a 2024 return until October 15, 2025.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Account Recovery
In order to e-file, you have to go through all of the steps of the FILE section until you click a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now." Until you click that orange button, your return has not been filed.
