Sorry, no. You can't change the year. You will have to start over with the software for the year that you need. The tag below your question says that you are using TurboTax Online, which is only for 2024. You can buy the desktop TurboTax software for 2023, 2022, or 2021 at this link. The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.
Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your past-year tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.
@jeremygfarris Did you enter 2023 or prior year info into the 2024 Online version? How far did you get? Did you actually file it? And did you just pay the Turbo Tax fees or a tax due too? What exactly did you do?
And do you still need to file 2024? If you paid the Online Turbo Tax fees you can’t clear the return to be for 2024 now. You will have to manually delete the wrong year info and enter 2024. Or you can abandon this account and set up a new account for 2024 but then you will have to pay the fees again.
