Amending a prior tax return, do i use the last name on that return or my current last name?

I am confused on which name to use, because I will be getting a refund check, and I don't use the last name anymore.

Since the IRS identifies taxpayers primarily through their social security number, you should use the name that is on your current social security card.  Otherwise, there will be a mismatch between the name and SSN shown on the amended return.
