Amending 2023 returns from Itemized deduction to standard

Hey i filed with H and R bock last year and while doing my taxes this year I realized that they used and itemized deduction rather than the standard even though the standard deduction was larger and would have gotten resulted in a refund. Are you able to amend your from itemized to standard or do i just have to eat it.

You can amend your return if there was an error on it.  This sounds like an error.

However, just in case it applies, if you are filing married filing separately and one spouse itemizes then the other must itemize as well even if it would be better to take the standard deduction.
