Amending 2019 returns - why do I have to re-enter everything?

So I am trying to amend my 2019 returns because there was a small amount of business expense I forgot to deduct. Now, when I open TT and chose to amend (choosing "New return -> Amend 2019 return after it was already filed), I could not just add this small difference to my existing business income/expense section - it's completely blank, including my total income and other expenses.

Am I supposed to re-enter everything? That's a lot of work. Did I do anything wrong here?

That does not sound right.

It sounds like you are telling TurboTax you are starting a new return and that it is for an amended 2019 return.

You should only need to enter the change.

Please use the link below for instructions on creating an amended return for a return you originally did in your TurboTax account.

Amending 2019 returns - why do I have to re-enter everything?

EDIT: after some googling I can amend an existing return by selecting "Search Topics" (not "Search") and typing "Amend". That seems to do the trick. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply. When I clicked the link for 2019 it says I don't have privilege to view it.

I tried to follow this link instead: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/00/27577

However, I could not find the "Amend a return (make changes) after it was filed and accepted by the IRS" option with an existing tax return. I could only find this option if I choose "New return", but then it loses the original return's information. It started by asking me what I want to amend. I picked "Business income & expenses" and then it started asking me about everything from "Personal income" as if I was filing a completely new return.
