Amended Tax Form Questions

I have a few questions.

1. What do I do if I receive my tax return before my amended form makes it to the IRS? It doesn't say that I received any money from them, and I'm afraid of them either sending me double and then hunting me down, or them not sending me the rest of what I would be receiving based on the amended form.

2. If changing my dependency status doesn't impact my return amount (I have to fix it at least federally, as I wasn't a dependent nor was I claimed as one and that impacts my federal return) on the state level, do I need to send the state an amended form?

These are particularly relevant as I've already received my state return, but not my federal one, so I'm curious what more I have to do (I know that at a minimum, I must send in a 1040X for the federal return).

Also, have we received any information about whether or not amending our dependency status will end up with us receiving the COVID-19 stimulus checks?

Amended Tax Form Questions

what forms do I need to file an amendment? I have my 1040X, but do I need to send a copy of the original federal tax return or just the new 1040X. Please help me understand what paper work goes mailed out.

thank you,
