Amended return

What happens if I file a return and it is accepted but then I get another w2 and I end up owing with that w2? Does the irs just keep the refund?

More income = more tax.  We have no details from you regarding the amounts on the W-2's you received, so we do not know if you will owe more.  We cannot know how much tax was withheld from your other W-2.    If you have another W-2 that was not included on your original tax return, you will have to wait for the first return to be fully processed and then amend to include that W-2.  Going forward---next year--do not file unless ALL of your income has been entered on the same tax return.

No, the IRS will pay the refund shown on the original return. The payment due on the amended return will include paying back the refund plus the additional amount that you owe.

It is possible the IRS would keep any refund you may have coming if you actually owe the IRS, after the second W-2 is added. You will need to amend the original tax return you sent in to the IRS. If you haven't completely filed a tax return you've completed or working on, you can add a second W-2 to your tax return. You can add that information by following the instructions in this Help Article and there is a link to amend as well:  Where do I add or enter a second W-2?
