Amended Federal return

I submitted electronically the amended 2020 Federal return and owed money . In the electronic submission process , I provided my bank info from where to withdraw the funds, but in the instructions it was stated that I should  be sending a check with Form 1099-V. Which is it? Do the Fed withdraw money directly from my checking account or do I need to submit payment via mail? Thank you
