I e-file the return and got email after 20min that " Federal Return Accepted". After this I realized that I made a mistake, so filed an amend, forgot to add one 1099. While filing amend, found federal refund on top left(desktop app) showed 0. Then I completed the amend filing and got email after 20min with this subject
"Your rejected federal amended ta return" and the email says error FPYMT-089.
I called Turbotax customer service and I was told, I should not file amend till original e-file is completed.
Now my question is, original efile is still open? when should I file Amend, if it crosses the 5/17/21 date is crossed, is it ok to file amendment?
Thanks in advance

Yes, it is okay to file an amendment after the 17th. You filed a timely return by filing your first return. Amendments can be done at anytime and should not be completed until your original return is fully processed.
If you filed, it is like dropping it into a mailbox - you cannot get it back.
You'll have to wait until your return is either accepted or rejected.
If rejected, you can make any necessary changes.
If accepted, you'll need to amend your return.
To avoid unnecessary delays, do not amend until your original return has been fully processed.
You can e-file your 2020 amended federal tax return, but most states require amendments to be printed and filed by mail.
Allow 16 weeks for processing.
See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.
You can check the status of your amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after filing for it to show up.
