How long after the bank rejects my refund will it take the IRS to issue me a paper check

I called yesterday and finally got them to reissue refund but they said 4-6 weeks. I dont know why so long.

Also WMR did not update. Probably gonna call today too and make sure it was reissued

It takes that long because they have to research the original refund to make sure it was not already cashed,  stop the payment on that check if needed and then go thru the process of reissuing a check ... this is not a simple process for the big machine. And it requires human intervention of which the IRS is in short supply right now ... you may be down a list that is hundreds long and that takes time.

My original direct deposit was on 2/27. This is the first check that they are sending out. They already spent 3 months "reviewing" it. Everyone else is getting a mail out date and getting their check a couple days later

I spoke to a different rep on Thursday and they said the rep on Tuesday did not do the right thing!! She did a trace on the refund instead of sending referral to the review department! So now they are telling me to give them 60 days to respond to the referral and release my refund!!!! Does anyone know what I should do?? And don't they have to pay me interest now since it is past the maximum time they said??

Aw man!, i really hope they dont tell me the same thing when I call monday!! This is ridiculous!!!

Mistakes2019 if you didnt update today then you are probably in same boat as me which sucks!! I am contacting a tax advocate  cuz this is really some bullshit! I should have done it weeks ago but i was being optimistic and thinking mine was coming. Its It's obviously not fraud cuz who with a big refund is gonna file late? I mean really??!!

So am I the only one still waiting?? I talked to the irs and the guy said the only thing he could do was put in a referral to the department that still has my taxes and kinda “light the fire” as he put it to let them know it’s past their time and they need to be priority but other then that I’m still waiting... has anyone else been told this and if so how long after the referral did it take for your taxes to be sent out???

So I filed with H&R Block for the first time this year and I feel like I messed up. I filed on Jan 29th, it went into my boyfriends account, brainless me didn’t know that because I wasn’t on the account his bank will reject it. So Feb 22nd comes and it drops in his bank. His bank tells us he cannot touch it it will draw his account into the negative thousands. So we waited till Feb 25th his bank said they rejected it and sent it back to the IRS. Now here’s where I have been loosing my mind. I have been calling H& R block and the IRS countless of times. It’s is now March 23rd and it’s well over a month ago my boyfriends bank went ahead and reject my direct deposit but on the IRS “Where’s my Refund” Site it says that all bars are green. The IRS says thy haven’t even received my direct deposit back... which is alarming. But a few IRS employees inform me to wait till March 29th at latest to see whether or not I have a check or not..... Here’s the catch, I moved on March 5th and updated my address with the IRS March 6th and at the Post Office on March 13th. A lot has been going on. After I check my old apartments mail and it isn’t there, what should I do?

Irs should've been received the refund back. Do your wmr status say when was it mailed out. If it's nothing in your mail by the 29th call them again. Also you should call the bank and see if they actually sent it back n not holding it. My bank rejected mines on the feb27th and irs received it on the march 12th. I then called on the 15th and was told that someone at irs was working on it and it can take up to 6 weeks to receive a check in the mail

Also you should call irs back again and talk to someone else and make sure your address was updated to your new location and ask what's the status on your refund tell them the situation again on how it was rejected.

Same thing happened to my husband and I. I sent it dd to my account but because his name is first on the refund then my bank rejected it. Received a letter from the IRS on 3/18 saying they needed nothing from us just wait 8-10 weeks to recieve a paper check and that WMR would update as soon as the check is written. I'm so upset that put our refund off from 2/27 to 5/25 like really? But if they keep it too long they are required to pay us interest on our refund. I'm upset. They instructed me at the IRS not to call back until the 10 weeks had passed ugh.. Anyone knows anything please reply. Thanks!
