So was wondering if the IRS will fix the mistakes I may have done. Because I just filed them right now and I’m getting like 2k more than last year and I’m sure I did everything right but something just doesn’t make sense

I’ve checked it like 5 times, and it said I was getting like (example) $2k before sending them, then after I sent them it said $4K, and I didn’t move anything. What should I do? Because doesn’t it take longer to get my money if they need to fix something?
Depends. If you are claiming a large amount of earned income tax credit or additional child tax credit, they take a closer look before releasing your refund. Did you answer the stimulus payment questions correctly? Are you claiming dependents this year you did not claim last year? Did you double check the withholding on your W-2? These could be reasons and they will catch that obvious income or dependent matching errors then reject your return back. But you will need to make the changes in TurboTax then re-submit your return. You should be receiving an email once your return is accepted or rejected. If it is rejected.
Go to you tax home and print out the pdf of your return as this should be the copy filed. Trace all the information back to your W2s, check your dependents, check line 27 and line 28 to your 2019 return, and check line 30 for any Recovery Rebate credit. Those would be the possible areas where the change would show up.
The pandemic has affected your taxes in many ways. Including reporting in TurboTax the amount of stimulus money you received. Click Here for more information on how the Pandemic affected your 2020 taxes.
