After entering everything for my 2017 returns, I realized I needed to amend my 2016 return. How can I get the revised 2016 information into the 2017 return?

UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

If you are using the desktop version of TurboTax, you have 2 choices:

  1. You can open a new 2019 return and then transfer over your data from the amended 2018 return and re-enter the 2018 information; OR
  2. Stay in your original 2018 return and manually update whatever may have changed from the 2017 return (e.g. carryovers, state tax refund, etc.).

It is not possible to import information from 2019 into an existing 2018 return.

It may be easier to just update your 2018 return manually.
