2022, we had a qualified business income ded. (form 8995). In 2023, we do NOT have any income for a QBD. Why does f8995 get generated when I print my final tax report?

2022, we had a qualified business income ded. (form 8995). In 2023, we do NOT have any income for a QBD. Why does f8995 get generated when I print my final tax report?

It's carried over from last year.  It doesn't effect anything (it's a blank form) and if you think that you might need it next year or in the future I would simply ignore it.

 

If you feel like it's really got to go, or you're sure you won't need it down the road you can delete the form.

 

1. Select Tax Tools from the menu on the left

2. Then select Tools

3. When the new menu pops up select Delete A Form

4. You will see a list of all the forms in your return

5. Find the form that you want to delete

6. Select the form and click delete on the right

 

Be careful deleting things.  Tax forms are interconnected in the system and it can mess up your return to delete something that you need.
