My Daughter filed March 13, 2021 for her 2020 taxes. She filed single, went to college, and paid for her college. So, she was going to get a pretty good return. But, about 3 weeks later a letter arrived saying she needed to call a number and identify herself 5071C.  As you know, getting ahold of the IRS was terrible. Took months, and in Nov finally was able to get identified, via some automated ID.me site...

Well, she still hasnt received her return. So, after logging in a checking every so often in her account, it shows this. Records of Account transcript is empty.

Yet, we have record they received it.

For 2020 return information, you will need to directly reach out to the IRS.  You might try the steps below which may get you through to an agent quicker:

IRS: 800-829-1040

Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, local time

Monday-Friday

  • Listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
  • Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

Thank you so much. I am getting to the point where I am just going to hire pros to do taxes. I don't need the stress anymore. Little things, letters, one hand not talking to the other. Automated stuff not in sync with people at the IRS>
