After we filed our taxes in 2020 we got a CP22A notice in April, 2022 from the IRS saying we owed money due to a carryback. This is how eventually I found out that Turbotax deferred Social Security taxes and didn't bother to let us know that they were due Dec 31, 2021 (50%) and Dec 31, 2022 (50%). I wasted hours on the phone trying to get thru to the IRS to figure out why we owed money. I find TurboTax annoying for doing this and not letting us know that they were deferred. Now we owe interest too!

This should not have been a surprise to you ... it was a choice was presented to you which you agreed to when indicating how much to defer on several separate screens and if you look in your PDF file of the return the payment instructions should be in there. The IRS also sent out reminder notices prior to the first deferred payment instructing you on how to make the payments and when.
I do not remember the choices being presented to me. But I know myself very well, I would've made a note of something like that. I double checked the PDF file instructions and there is no mention of deferred taxes that are due at a later date. The IRS did not send us notices either (prior to the due date).
Just a note, our deferred taxes were not associated with self employment (as you indicated on your screenshots) they were associated with Household Employment.
Same thing ... the SS portion of the taxes were deferred even if you don't remember doing so thus you do owe them. You can pay the portion mentioned in the notice and the rest later or pay it all now.
