Hello,

I have filed my tax returns but missed accounting for the form 1095 A. I may have to file the 8862 form for advance tax credits. How do I do it now? Both my fed and state returns are in the accepted stages.

Sign into TurboTax.

Click the button Add a State to get back into your tax return.

Then follow these steps for the 1095-a

  • Federal
  • Deductions and Credits
  • Medical
  • Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)

When you fill in the information from your 1095-A it will create the 8962 form

Now print your return to a pdf file

You can find the 8862 form and print that to have ready

The IRS will contact you with directions for FAX or mail the 8962.

For the 8862 here are the directions with a video

Once your return has been e-filed and accepted, there is no way to get it back.  The directions above will assist you with any issues with the 1095-A and the 8862.

Hello, Thanks for replying. Would'nt I be able to use the form 1040-X to amend my returns when the form becomes available? Right now it shows it may be available on 26th of March

Yes, you could do it that way but the result will be the same. The refund/tax due won't change, you'll just generate Form 8962.
