tagteam: Intuit would still control the import from Quicken to TurboTax and would have an interest in disabling that to promote use of Mint instead of Quicken. CD-in-IL: I've used TurboTax and Quicken for decades. I'm curious about the type of info that you import from Quicken to TurboTax.

tagteam: Sorry - of course I wouldn't have assumed otherwise. I doubt that Mint data can be imported into TurboTax and, even if it could, it wouldn't address what is probably the primary value of ItsDeductible for importing non-cash donations.

<sarcasm> Import of Mint into TurboTax will probably be implemented quickly to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to stellar customer service. </sarcasm> I can't even envision a reason why anyone would want to import Mint account aggregation data into TurboTax.

ItsDeductible is disabled for new 2022 entries and, according to others here, may even prevent download of summaries for 2022 entries that were already made. That's a huge pain for users who have taken advantage of one ItsDeductible feature that's better than H&R Block's DeductionPro, allowing entry of donations as they occur, but then finding that 5 months of entries were a waste of time. The October discontinuation date is very likely tied to the tax extension filing deadline and was a "service" to existing users, allowing them to import 2021 data into TurboTax if filing up to the extension deadline. Feel free to register your discontent by posting reviews at Amazon, etc.

I expect that much of the ongoing cost to Intuit is updating the donation valuations. Regarding import into TT, I'd suggest summarizing items by category (e.g., clothing, household), getting valuations from past ItsDeductible summaries, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc., and then manually entering what would probably be a small number of donations into TT. There are lots of ways to do the summaries, such as Excel and probably various free web and mobile tools. The main effort then becomes making the summaries.

Re: BVGumball Exactly my thoughts. I will probably continue to use TurboTax and use my extensive Excel capabilities (using Excel 97 (4.0) - yes, it's ancient, but still works in Windows 10) to summarize counts of items, valuations from ItsDeductible, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc., and enter the summaries manually in TurboTax. It's not as clean as ItsDeductible, but beats the unknown of switching to H&R Block, with questionable import from TT and entry of donations in DeductionPro at tax time.

I posted the following review of TurboTax Deluxe 2021 at Amazon with 1 star: I've happily used TurboTax since 1992 and ItsDeductible since 2006. ItsDeductible is a web-based tool from Intuit that supports entry and valuation of charitable donations of items with valuation, money, mileage, and stock. Contributions can be imported into TurboTax Deluxe and Premier. It's a major time-saver for handling charitable donations. Although ItsDeductible is still available for tax year 2021, Intuit has decided to discontinue it effective 10/17/2022. H&R Block has something called DeductionPro that might be similar.

It will be interesting to see how much more traction this thread gets as users unsuccessfully attempt to enter new item donations into ItsDeductible for 2022. Existing users have been notified by email of discontinuation, but many probably didn't follow up. They will certainly notice when they try to be proactive with new contributions and discover that Add/Edit buttons no longer work. New users haven't been notified and probably can't even create an account.

One aspect of TT vs. Mint is that both are from Intuit. If you trust Intuit, with which many of us are perhaps having problems, then TT and Mint are probably equally safe from the perspective of data security. Another aspect is the nature of the info being provided. TT has personal info, SSN, and snapshots of high-level asset info. If you use the desktop version of TT, there's a possibility that much of that info does not go to Intuit. I would hope not, since it's not needed by Intuit. However, Mint has financial account username/password and downloads account details. I haven't used it, but I work at a financial institution with close involvement in authentication where it's clear that Mint frequently downloads automatically and possibly on-demand as well. Another issue is the chance of forgetting that you signed up for Mint, changing your password, and having Mint continue to try logging in with an invalid password. That can lead to account lockout at some institutions. It's certainly caused major issues from my experience, requiring technical changes to reduce the impact on users - especially those who infrequently login manually.

You may be out of luck. I just went to ItsDeductible and the "Add" buttons for 2022 don't exist. I guess that's TurboTax's approach to preventing disappointment at entering data for 2022 and then not being able to use it for anything. If you've already added entries for 2022, I recall a posting indicating that downloading of those may no longer work.
