Residency address

I have been residing overseas throughout the whole year of 2016. I have my rental income in Brooklyn, New York and Airbnb income from Manhattan and another one time income in New York.
What should I write as my address, and does it affect my tax returns?

Residency address

Your state of residency or address, which is referred to as your principal place of residence, is determined by some or all of the following factors (no single factor makes you a resident). It is the state where you:

 - Own or rent your main home where you spend most of your time
 - Intend to return to if you work, travel or vacation elsewhere temporarily
 - Maintain your driver's license
 - Maintain your primary bank account(s)
 - Have strongest family ties
 - Your children live and attend school
 - Own or run your main business, especially if you live in that state

In your case, as of December 31, 2016, you would select Foreign or U.S. Possession. This would be located within the Personal Info tab. (Please see attached photo). Also, since you generated rental income in New York, you will need indicate it within Personal Info, under Other state income, that you made money in New York. (Please see attached photo). This will generate the NYS tax return.

In regards to e-filing, you will be able to transmit it with a foreign address, however there are some restrictions, please read below. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3301481
