I am attempting to efile today Sept 28th 2025, but I am receiving this error message:
Your request was not understood by the e-filing service. -invalid XML. cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: invalid content was found starting with element "legalName". One of '{filerid}' is expected.. Please verify that your application program is up-to-date.
I had to file an extension after paying a professional to do my taxes which were not done properly. I then received a large chuck of my money as a refund and was told I will need to do my taxes myself.
I am not a tax professional and was really upset that I paid a professional but it was not completed.
After months of going through tax law and documents, I have completed my 2024 taxes and I am trying to efile them. Federal is free and I have paid the cost to file state (already paid State Taxes through AZ Tax online payment portal) and I am stuck again.
It's been 6 months since people reported this issue in April right as they were trying to file. I have paid for the 2024 Premiere desktop software and I have updated the software and manually deleted the entire personal info section and typed all the information back in, but I am still receiving the error.
The forum said support did nothing to help resolve the situation and issue with the desktop application.
Another user mentioned they resolved the issue by transitioning to TurboTax online, but TurboTax online will NOT / DOES NOT SUPPORT transfers from the Desktop software for "the current year."
Apparently I am stuck again. Was this issue ever resolved? Are your development team working on the issue?
Am I forced to manually input ALL of my information again into the TurboTax online software? If i need to do this, I am stuck again as the professional that couldn't complete my taxes left all their work in the online software.
Please provide an update to this error asap as extension for 2024 need to be filed by October 15, 2025.
Thank you.

To anyone looking for a follow up to this, unfortunately, I was not able to resolve the issue. I printed all the forms, filled out documents, and supporting documentation and will mail it to the IRS on Monday to make the Oct 15th deadline.
To be fair, an admin did message me to see if I figured out a resolution myself and I let them know I was not able to solve the desktop software issue.
Always make sure to keep a back up of your originals and all filed out documents. It really helps when you do have to manually print to file.
Good luck all.
