You misunderstood.  The married filing jointly standard deduction is $12,700.  Each spouse also gets a $4050 personal exemption.  

$12,700 + $4050 + $4050 = $20,800  You will get that using TurboTax.  Those amounts lower the amount of income you are taxed on.

You misunderstood.  The married filing jointly standard deduction is $12,700.  Each spouse also gets a $4050 personal exemption.  

$12,700 + $4050 + $4050 = $20,800  You will get that using TurboTax.  Those amounts lower the amount of income you are taxed on.
