I called last night to find out why and they told me that the state of NC isn't letting its residents not file online till February 24th.....
I thought it was the 28th
@Portia958 I was told Thursday February 24th 2022 is when NC is going to let its residents file their taxes online.
No complaints there the earlier the better. Thanks
Just spent 1 1/2 hours on phone with a Turbotax rep. My problem was Turbotax would not accept the bank routing and account numbers for South Carolina e-file. Having to pay federal, but getting SC refund. Ended up temporarily lying on federal form to get a refund to allow for bank account acceptance on SC form. Then change to correct file for e-filing. Big time glitch in Turbotax program. Also, took 4 days of back and forth on Turbotax website to actually get an appointment with a human being. Problem was finally solved, but then have to pay an additional $20 for the SC e-filing on credit card. $40 if you have it deducted from your refund. This info not stated anywhere on Turbotax site. H&R Block may have found a new customer, next year. Or I'll pay a CPR to avoid the headaches & hassles.
Turbo tax has taken my debit card info and charged me but my taxes can not be e-filed . Why are the documents not being excepted?

The North Carolina Individual Income Tax Return Form D-400 is not yet available for e-filing. It is estimated to be available on 02/24/2022
Go to this TurboTax website for North Carolina state forms availability - https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_nc_online_individual.html
If you want to e-file your federal tax return now then change how you file the NC state return. This assumes that all of the forms and schedules included in your federal tax return are available for e-filing.
If using the TurboTax online editions click on File on the left side of the online program screen. On Step 3 of the File section click on Start or Revisit. Select the button File by Mail. Then change the filing status of the state return.
After the federal return is e-filed and accepted by the IRS you can e-file the state return when it is available for e-filing. Just use the same procedure and change the state return back to e-filing.
Same Issue since last week .... also in NC
Transmission not available????
I kept getting the same error message "Tax year 2021 transmissions are not available" every time I tried to submit my NC state/ federal taxes using my computer... tried filing on my phone and went right through with no issue.

For everyone else trying to figure out how to file your North Carolina state tax, you cannot file North Carolina electronically right now until February 28. The state has not opened up electronic submission yet. This is very normal for North Carolina to not open electronic transmission until the third or fourth week of February. This has been like this for the past 23 years that I’ve lived here in Charlotte, North Carolina.
If you’re on a computer on the left-hand side
•click file when your page opens up you will see two rectangular boxes
•one has federal return
•NC state return click on the state return click that box
•uncheck the box marked Efile
•click the box marked file in mail/paper
•Then click sign submit and your federal electronically
For everyone trying to figure out how to file your North Carolina state tax. PLEASE START ON PAGE 1 of this thread.
Many of us just like you, we do not work for TurboTax, we are not affiliated in any way with TurboTax we are volunteers helping others understand what’s going on.
North Carolina electronic transmitting is not being accepted until after February 28.
