Can i file my taxes today and pay by april 2018 without a penalty

I wish to file taxes in February and make payment to IRS in April. Is this possible?

To add:  You can also choose to pay by direct debit when you e-file to pay your taxes due, then you can pick a date you want the IRS to deduct the money from your account.  Just make sure it is on or before April 17, 2018, I would suggest you make it for a day or two ahead of that last day.

Yes, you definitely can file your taxes now and pay later.  You an choose at the end of the filing under the File section to Mail a check.  This will allow you to continue your tax return,.

Mail the check or money order to the IRS, along with Form 1040-V, postmarked by the April 17, 2018 tax filing deadline to avoid the late payment penalty.

The address to mail your payment will be on your Form 1040-V, or you can get it off the IRS 1040-V instructions (page 2)

 You can also make your payment online by visiting the following IRS.gov website visit www.irs.gov/Payments.
