Im having a really hard time with my taxes this year bc I moved mid year. Someone told me not to put my wages in the first W-2 (from DC) but only the 2nd,

But I am worried that isn't correct.  Does anyone know how to file two w-2'S from one employer due to a move mid year?

Yes.  Enter one W2 only for one employer regardless of how many copies received.

While you are entering the W2 there are options to add more state lines, and, if necessary, local lines.  This allows you to account for all of the states or localities where you worked for one employer.

Follow the steps here to record your W2s correctly in TurboTax Free Edition:

  • In the search box type W2
  • Jump to W2
  • Continue to add the additional information for the state(s) and localities if applicable
