Working as 1099 Employee

I spent Jan-Mar as W2 employee and will be 1099 employee for Apr-Dec.  Do I have to pay any estimated taxes as a 1099 employee?

Hi,

Yes, likely you will need to pay estimated taxes.  This article does a good job of explaining about estimated taxes.  Keep in mind that you may also need to pay estimated taxes to your state.  To learn more about that you can search for "Estimated taxes" and the name of your state.  There you should find instructions on your obligations and how to pay your state.

Cheer below if this helps!

Best,

Karen
