Will Turbo Tax be providing the e-fileable PDF General Dependency Stmt of Form 8915-E, released by IRS, as per IRS statement on Feb. 8 - Alternative File Methods? When?

Ok so there is a problem with the IRA distribution being reported that TT does know about? That’s what I was trying to report a Trad IRA and it didn’t split the 11,200 for me. I filled out everything correctly and I believe the 10 percent was waived, but the 11,200 was not split into 3 years for a tax liability, because I put the amount 3750 in as a stand alone (not due to Covid) and the difference was like 2-3 K on my taxes in the amount owed compared to the other. If that makes sense?  Any word on a fix?

So a Trad IRA should disperse?

What amount is shown on the Form 1040 Line 4b?  $3,733 or $7,483?

Yes, if you indicated the withdrawal was Covid-19 related.

I just went back into TT online and it appears some changes have been made, but in my opinion the work-around to completing the Form 8606 is questionable.  During the "review return" step, TT directed me to Line 15b of Form 8606 and requested that I enter an amount.  This line requires the amount of total taxable IRA distributions (shown on Line 15a) that are "attributable to qualified disaster distributions".  Fortunately, I have already completed the paper IRS forms and calculated this amount, and by entering my amount the Federal refund was computed and matched my proforma return.  That said, I would have expected the TT program to calculate the Line 15b amount, since all required amounts/entries are available.  Perhaps this is still a 'work-in-progress' on the TT side!

@DoninGA

try it (Online) again with a distribution of $100,000

and with a distribution of $120,000

and see if you agree with the results.

TT apparently has not yet completely corrected their programming for COVID related IRA distributions.  I am receiving the same CHECK THIS ENTRY message for both my and my wife's Form 8606.  It reads as follows for both Form 8606-T and Form 8606-S:  "Your calculations could not be completed. Reference code: X-XXX-XXX."

(I did not include the actual reference code for security reasons.)

Further, the online TT program will not allow me to "Fix" the problem, and only enables me to "Connect with expert" in order to proceed.  But the earliest appointment available is around mid-March....thus further delaying refunds in excess of $14K.

Bottom line:  TT has definitely NOT delivered a quality product this year.  How difficult can it be to follow the IRS forms/instructions and make the necessary programmatic changes needed????
