Will I receive a stimulus check if I am eligible on my 2019 taxes but just flied them on the 4/10/20? If IRS went off my 2018 taxes I would not be eligible. What do I do?

it'll work itself out regardless.... here is why (and this is your worst case scenario)

  • The stimulus payments are really based on your 2020 tax return (income, dependents, etc).
  • The IRS is using either 2018 or 2019 – whatever is available  - to ESTIMATE that payment
  • When you file next year there will be a “settle up” section on the tax return.
  • If you are due more stimulus (and this would include where you simply never received it), you will receive it through the 2020 tax filing.
  • If you received too much, by law, you are not required to return it

do you think you are eligible based on your 2020 income? that is the real determinate if you are eligible.

The  IRS link below has a "Get my payment" status button and a Q&A section.  I would press "Get my payment" and check if the IRS needs additional information from you.

NC person--Thanks for your answer of my similar question yesterday, where you referenced the CARES act language. I tried to reply and ended up with a "page no longer available" message. I believe you now! You describe your scenario as "worst case." The IRS says it is updating data daily overnight. Do you think it's possible that in updates they will reverse decisions based on 2018 filings after receiving 2019 filings, as in my case and the case here?
