The TurboTax Free online edition is for very simple tax returns that do not require any other form or schedule other than the Form 1040.  If your tax data requires entry on any other form or schedule then you must upgrade to the Deluxe edition or higher.

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2020 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

Or go to this IRS website for other Free File providers - https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/browse-all-offers/

@oliviarriley_

TurboTax is no longer a Free File provider.

visit the IRS at https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free

to find truly free filing. Note that some include free state as well; that's important.
Otherwise, If you have to file a state return, and don't want to do that yourself, you will need software that you pay for.

Right?! Exactly! The answer is because the Intuit Company software products are not properly debugged. I gave TurboTax a 2nd chance for the 2021 Tax Year and again they rejected my simple 1040, blaming it on the IRS with bogus reasoning that I proved later was the case. My advice is "Get A Refund". If you can't get Intuit to refund you, try the Store you bought it from, even if it was a digital download. If the Store won't refund you and if you bought online with a Credit Card, dispute the charge (this is what I had to do). Finally, if you purchased online with a cash/debit card, try explaining the situation to the debit card's Bank (if all other avenues get you nowhere).
