Why, when I first started this process on TurboTax, were my "taxes due so far" lower than what ended up being due at the end? It's not well over 1k more!

If you are referring to the "refund monitor"----that changes constantly as you enter information and the data is re-calculated. You cannot take that amount seriously until ALL of your information has been entered into the software.
