I can't say for sure, but based on my limited knowledge of marketing, it is possible a deal was made with the global distributor Amazon in which the price would be lower because the volume of people buying it from them would be immensely greater and because Amazon would want the information gathered from people buying it by offering it. They offer it at a lower price because that information will make them more money than selling the product at the higher value would and more people will see both options and choose the less expensive one. That's just one possibility though.
