Why is there a delay in getting IRS Form 4582 into my software?

The IRS has not finalized Form 4852, Substitute Form W-2 or 1099R. Once the IRS finalizes it and gives us the permission to upload to our software, it'll become available. Right now, the estimate date is around 2/18/2021.

• Note: From 4852 can't be e-filed.
• You should always attempt to get your Form W-2, Form W-2c, or Form 1099-R (original or corrected) from your employer or payer before contacting the IRS or filing Form 4852.
• If you don’t receive the missing or corrected form from your employer or payer by the end of February, you may call the IRS at 800-829-1040 for assistance.

Answer was valid when IRS form listing indicated it was not yet available. It is now indicated as "available" and is STILL not available in my deluxe software. Why not??

The Form 4852 will not be available until February 25 and it will only for paper-file.  TurboTax does not support the e-filing anymore.

Form 4852 serves as a substitute for Form W-2, Form W-2c, and Form 1099-R, and is completed by taxpayers or their representatives when:

Their employer or payer does not give them a Form W-2 or Form 1099-R.

An employer or payer has issued an incorrect Form W-2 or Form 1099-R

Today is February 25th, 2021. When updating my turbotax, it does not look like Form 4852 is available to print and to be mailed? It says "available soon" on my screen. What is the update?

You are correct, it does show available now for returns filed by mail.  As I test this scenario in both online and desktop both allow the printing of Form 4852.  The request to print it comes in the W-2 (or 1099R) entry and loads to print right there.

Be sure you have selected the check on the screen 'Let's check for uncommon situations' as you step through the W-2 screens.
