Why is the income from investments, including 1099s for dividends and interest and 1099 Bs, less than the summary reports as a total? The summary seems wrong?

I have checked all my entries and they are correct and I don't see any that I have missed. But somehow the total shown in the category statement on Turbotax is grossly overstated.

It is possible that not all of your interest and dividends are includible in taxable income. For example, Interest dividends from state or municipal bonds aren't typically taxable. See this TurboTax tips article for more information.

If you are using a Desktop version of TurboTax, you can go to Forms Mode by clicking Forms on the upper bar menu and review the forms and worksheets TurboTax has prepared from your entries. You can also click inside the boxes to get information about the source of the entry.

If you are using TurboTax Online, you can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated. See here for details.
