Contrary to what turbotax software says, the IRS has released form 1116 for 2021 taxes. However, it is still not available in turbotax (Premier, downloaded). I cannot finish my taxes until turbotax fixes this.
Turbotax software lists this form as 'missing' but does not say when it will be available. Today's update did not include the form. This needs to be fixed.

Per the forms availability list, form 1116 is currently available for both e-file and print. Form 1116 SchB (Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule) is slated to be finalized on 3/10/22 for print and on 3/11/22 for e-file.
The form needs to be approved for use in the program.
"Approved"? What does that mean? It's an official IRS form.
When will turbotax have the form. I can't finish my taxes without it.
The IRS must approve TT's version (programming) of the form.
Ah, I see. Is there an ETA?
thanks

The Turbotax forms availability page says Form 1116 is "Available", however when I try to complete my taxes in Turbtax Online (Premier) today (March 10th), TT says the form is not available yet. Please advise.
Are you needing form 1116 or 1116 Schedule B? 1116 is definitely available however 1116B is slated to be available tomorrow 3/11/22 . If you happen to be using the desktop program please make sure to check for the latest updates and if you are using the online version, please clear your browser's cache and delete cookies @Mike-E.
Thanks for the fast response, Ebony. I don't know enough to know whether I need 1116 or 1116 Sch B. Here's what I know: I cleared my cache, logged back into TT Online, and this is what I see when I go through the Federal Review step at 5pm ET on 3/10. It says "Available: 0" and when I click the "Done" button, it doesn't bring me to foreign tax credit; it brings me to other matters.
If you are claiming a Foreign Tax Credit (maybe from Foreign Tax on a 1099-Div?), you do need the Form 1116, Schedule B form. Or, if you had a Foreign Tax Credit Carryover, you will need this form.
It's scheduled to be available on 3/11/22. To revisit this section,
Under 'Deductions & Credits' scroll down to Foreign Tax Credit, and Edit.
If you have some other type of foreign income (rental, pension), that you paid Foreign Tax on, you are asked the Source Country and amount, and any related expenses.
In this case, you also need to enter the Foreign Tax amount related to this 'other foreign income'.
Go through the Review section again. You may want to clear your Cache and Cookies first.

I updated my TurboTax (download, premier) on 3/12/22 in order to finish my taxes, which requires Form 1116 (I do not think I need 1116B this year but need to double check this), and received the same message that Form 1116 is not available and there is no date listed as to when it will be available. Did the latest date of 3/11/22 get pushed back? Please advise. Thank you!
The forms are available.
I have TT Premier and this portion of the "guided" process is NOT working. I enter the 22 countries for FTC and press continue, when asked to choose a country to enter data for, I see the complete list, so I pick the first one, enter information, and the system falls apart, I cannot enter another countries information. I try to go back and the list of 22 countries I entered is gone. Only one country and its in the second position. on the default empty country list that only has four slots when you start.
I tried a second time and it failed again.
I tried going int the "Forms" portion of the program and DELETING the existing Form 1116 and tried again... It failed again...
Cannot seem to find a way to report a bug, so I went to the Facebook site and sent a message...
***** Was able to get past this by choosing RIC since its managed by a fund ***
