It depends. If you are in the forms mode, you can try select each 8915-E and delete each one at the bottom of the page and see if that will eliminate the problem.
FYI - For everyone that took a Covid-19 withdrawal in 2020 and spread it across 3 years, you'll be using the 8915-F form, and not the 8915-E form, for your 2021 and all future tax returns.
Form 8915-F still isn't available in TurboTax yet, but hopefully soon.
I keep checking, the form 8915E-T is indeed there but has nothing in it and has beside the listing entry "(Not Done). When I try to do the "Ready for Federal Review" it keeps bringing up the page with the heading "We'll Help You Finish Your Taxes Soon" and lists the "Form 1040", "Form 8915E-T" and "Form 891tE-T: Qualified 2020 Disaster Ret..." with the statuses "Ready Soon".
It's less than a month until filing, I keep trying the updates for weeks now, but I cannot get past this. Is there a bug in the TurboTax software?
It is still not working for me, either. I'll answer your questions for my problem (Form 8915E-T Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Plan Distribution and Repayments" is still listed as "Ready Soon".
I'm using the Desktop CD version of turbotax Deluxe, bought form Costco, installed on a laptop Windows 11 computer. Windows automatically updates regularly (even last week) and so does turbotax.
Last week I did try deleting the Form 1099-R, saved it, got out of turbotax, restarted it, reentered it and got the same problem.
The code for box 7 is 7 - Normal Distribution. IRA/Sep/Simple is NOT checked on the form nor in Turbotax. There is an amount in 2a -- the same amount as in box 1.
There was a Form 1099-R in 2020 also, and the form worked fine in the 2020 filing. It asked if the amount was to be spread over 3 years and I checked the box. I think the 2021 is stuck because of this -- it probably picked up the problem from reading the 2020 file and can't figure out how to put the next 1/2 amount in 2021.
Form 8915-F is used to report a disaster-related retirement distribution, and any repayments of those funds. It also allows you to spread the taxable portion of the distribution over three years, if needed, and reports prior-year distribution amounts to be taxed in 2021. Form 8915-F replaces Form 8915-E.
The form won't be available until 3/24/2022 Federal Individual Form Availability
I was just told by Intuit that it will be updated on 3/31
Hi, I used the 8915-ET for distribution taken in 2020. I chose to pay all the taxes in 2021 rather than spread over 3 years. I don't even need the form, but it will not let me finish the return without it. Any advise?
You need the form to complete your return. Great news! It is scheduled for release on March 24th, 2022.
Form 8915-F (2020 disasters) (Instructions Form 8915-F)
Check the 2020 box in item B of your Form 8915-F if you were adversely affected by a qualified 2020 disaster listed in Table for Qualified 2020 Disaster Areas in Appendix B, Qualified Disaster Areas by Year at the end of these instructions, and:
A qualified disaster distribution described in Qualified 2020 disaster distribution requirements, later, was made to you;
You are repaying, or have income from, a coronavirus-related distribution or other qualified 2020 disaster distribution reported on Part I of 2020 Form 8915-E; or
You received a qualified distribution described in Qualified 2020 disaster areas under Qualified Distribution for the Purchase or Construction of a Main Home in Qualified Disaster Areas, later.
Your form will be called Form 8915-F (2020 disasters).
Hi, even though. I didn't take a distribution in 2021 and claimed the full amount on 2020 return rather than speed over 3 years?
Yes, the distribution has limit amounts that have to be tracked year over year.
Is that form available to add?
This morning I did have a new update, and it did now work.
Thanks for all y'all's hard work!
Did you have to start from the beginning or it automatically fix it for you upon opening the program after the update?
I do see the form but it's not working for me
What issue are you experiencing specifically? any error messages? @TXDAD
